Elijah Craig Straight Rye Whiskey (750 mL)

Surprisingly sweet; kettle corn and caramel sweetness originate first. A mix of allspice, nutmeg, and rye grain follows. The sweetness remains though and begins to ramp up into the finish. Light bodied and mild in its intensity overall. A crescendo of sweetness introduces vanilla and butterscotch, which is quickly met with a hit of lasting rye spice. The finish delivers the right level of intensity, which is lacking in the nose and palate, making it the highlight of the sip.  

Elijah Craig Rye is a premium and super-premium brand of bourbon whiskey produced in Kentucky by Heaven Hill Distilleries. The brand is sold as a straight bourbon, typically in 750 mL glass bottles.  

Aged 8 to 12 Years, Elijah Craig Straight Rye Whiskey is the first extra-aged Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey to join Elijah Craig’s award-winning family of Bourbons. A unique combination of spicy rye grains and sweet corn, coupled with a steadfast attention to detail, give Elijah Craig Straight Rye the perfect balance of flavor and smoothness.

While the distillation process for Straight Rye is similar to our Small Batch Bourbon, the difference lies in the mashbill. It’s 51% rye grain instead of corn: the legal requirement for this style of American Whiskey.

Manhattan 

2 oz. Elijah Craig Straight Rye Whiskey, .75 oz. Sweet Vermouth, 3 dashes of Angostura® Bitters, Brandied Cherry 

Stir all ingredients together and strain into pre-chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
